Gazzetta: Stankovic’s 50% sell-on clause keeps Inter in the picture

The match against Napoli has brought Filip Stankovic back into discussions about the future of Inter’s goalkeeping position. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Italy’s leading sports daily, Inter retained a 50% sell-on clause when they sold the goalkeeper to Venezia for €1.5 million. That percentage could secure another payment or make a potential move to re-sign him more financially attractive: a return remains a possibility, and the newspaper does not report any negotiations.

The link therefore lies in the terms of the transfer. Venezia signed the Serbian on loan for the 2024-25 season and officially announced on 23 June 2025 that they had exercised their option to make the move permanent. The percentage reported by Gazzetta applies to a future sale: it is not described as a buy-back option at a pre-agreed price.

On the pitch, the Inter academy graduate developed through loan spells at Volendam and Sampdoria before joining Venezia. The newspaper credits him with 38 appearances and 16 clean sheets in the Serie B campaign that ended with promotion back to the top flight. Those performances underline the clause’s potential financial significance.

On 17 October, in the 1-0 win over Napoli, he saved a De Bruyne penalty and finished with nine saves and 2.06 goals prevented, according to the xG figures reported by Gazzetta. Venezia’s first win of the season has thus also renewed interest in the former Inter goalkeeper. For Inter, the possibility raised by the newspaper remains tied to Venezia’s future transfer decisions and the goalkeeper’s development.
