Inter Campus and Shakhtar Social bring children together at San Siro

The match against Shakhtar also offered children from the two clubs’ social projects a chance to meet. Inter describes a day that began with a joint training session and continued in the stands at San Siro: an opportunity to get to know the opposition through play, as part of a programme that accompanies the men’s first team’s Champions League fixtures.

The Ukrainian children travelled from Genoa and Bergamo, with support from the Consulate General of Ukraine in Milan and coordination by Shakhtar Social, the club’s social responsibility department. They met children taking part through Inter Campus in Giocare Aiuta a Guarire Meglio (‘Playing Helps You Heal Better’), the project developed with Fondazione Maria Letizia Verga to help children return to social activities after the isolation imposed by medical treatment.

The meeting forms part of the Social & Community Exchange programme, launched in March 2025. Among its early activities, Inter Campus reported on the exchange with Feyenoord: an Inter delegation travelled to Rotterdam, while a delegation from the Dutch club was hosted in Milan. The programme brings participants in social initiatives onto the pitch and gives sustainability delegates a forum to share practices and develop joint projects.

The activity is supported by the UEFA Foundation and forms part of EFC policies and the United Nations’ Football for the Goals initiative. The club also recalls a Club Brugge representative’s meeting with Inter’s Squadra Special team and Inter Campus children when the two clubs faced each other. The exchange with Shakhtar thus marks another step in the dialogue between the clubs’ communities, linked to their European fixtures.
